Winter camping season
The Pinecrest complex, is closed for the 2009 season as of Monday October 12th. 2009. Winter camping is available in the Pioneer Trail campground which is located approx 1 mile up Dodge Ridge Rd from Pinecrest. Winter services include vault toilets and garbage collection. The water system will be shut down for the winter. There is no fee for winter camping unless the group is larger than 20 people. The parking area will be cleared of snow but sites will not be.

The opening day for the 2010 summer camping season is projected to be April 23, 2010, weather depending. Make your 2010 reservations for the Pinecrest campground at recreation.gov. Reservations can be made 6 months in advance of your arrival date.

The Sierra Nevada Mountains offer a wide range of summer activities for all ages, from camping and fishing to horseback riding and outdoor movies. This region offers something for everyone! Dodge ridge operates 8 campgrounds within 30 miles of Pinecrest (see information below) each of which offer unique recreation experiences. In the heart of the Pinecrest recreation area, a short walk from Pinecrest Lake, Pinecrest Campground offers almost 200 sites suitable for a variety of tent and trailer / RV camping. The area is mostly forested and each site has a paved parking pad, picnic table and fire ring. There are no RV hookups available in any sites and no RV water filling stations. There are bathrooms with flush toilets and potable water is available from spigots throughout the campground.

All sites in this campground are subject to advanced reservations (877-444-6777 or at recreation.gov). Reservations through Reserve America start on May 7th, 2010 and are available 6 months in advance. Sites are $20 per night, Golden Age passes are honored. There is an RV dump station located nearby which is open Monday – Saturday. Our Kiosk is open 7 days per week and sells ice and firewood.
Within walking distance of the campground there is a General Store, Post Office, sporting goods store, restaurant, Pinecrest Lake, boat slip, marina, bike rentals, boat rentals, outdoor movie amphitheatre, great fishing, spectacular hiking trails and a picturesque swimming beach. Pinecrest is great for all ages and camping here has been a tradition for many families for generations, it is a quintessential American summer vacation, come and create your own family tradition!

Very similar to Pinecrest Campground, Meadowview is located right next to the Pinecrest Campground and is within walking distance of all the same amenities. Camp sites have paved parking pads, picnic table and fire rings. There are no RV hookups available in any sites and no RV water filling stations. There are bathrooms with flush toilets and potable water is available from spigots throughout the campground.

Meadowview sites are available on a first come – first serve basis. Sites are $18 per night, Golden Age passes are honored.

Pioneer Trail is a group campground with 3 large sites capable of accommodating 50 – 75 people each, perfect for youth groups, family reunions, scouting groups, social groups etc. Parking areas are paved and each site has multiple picnic tables, potable water spigots and large fire rings for serious outdoor cooking. Vault toilets are provided for each site.

It is a short walk down the hill to Pinecrest Lake, the recreation area and associated amenities.

These 5 campgrounds are small (10 – 35 sites) and provide a true high country camping experience. Located on the banks of the Stanislaus River, 20 miles East of Pinecrest, these campgrounds are some of the highest on the Sonora Pass. This area offers some of the best fishing, hiking and scenery in the region.

Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, some campgrounds have paved roads and pads and others do not. Vault toilets are available at all campgrounds and potable water is available. No RV hookups are available. There is a General Store located at Dardanelle and an RV water filling station located at the Dardanelle Ranger Station.

All sites are first come – first serve and range between $10 - $18 per night. Golden Age passes are honored.


Fraser Flat-
Fraser Flat is located approx 10 miles below Pinecrest on the banks of the South Fork of the Stanislaus River. A picturesque campground located on a gently flowing section of the river. This campground has 38 sites, paved roads and parking pads, tables, fire rings, vault toilets and potable water. There are also 2 ADA accessible sites and 3 fishing piers on the river, one of which is ADA accessible. There are many Forest Service roads and trails in the area which provide access to the regions forest.

All sites are first come – first serve and cost $16 per night. Golden Age passes are honored.
