Over the weekend of February 24 - 27, Dodge Ridge hosted the Senior Winter Challenge & Festival benefiting the Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County, Inc. This event replaced the California Senior Winter Games held at Dodge Ridge in March of 2010. This decision was developed after the California Senior Winter Games Director informed us of a new annual bid process required to host the event. To ensure the success and perennial nature of this grand winter sports event we decided to develop our own games and partner with the Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County, Inc. to hold the Senior Winter Challenge & Festival. Our promise and commitment to our competitors, community and business partners was to support a perpetual community event celebrating healthy lifestyles for seniors and the supporting community.
The goal of the 2011 Senior Winter Challenge & Festival was to bring about continual growth of the individual and community through winter sports for the purpose of building camaraderie, healthy lifestyles and community support. In addition, the vision of this event broadened the scope of the games with event festivities to increase participant opportunities for the whole family.
We would like to thank everyone that joined us February 24 – 27 for an exciting four day weekend packed with both competitive and non-competitive Alpine and Nordic races, an All-Mountain Adventure Challenge, Wine Tasting, Live Music, Fireworks, Brewfest, Kids Activities and much more! Be sure to join us for next year's events and festivities as we plan to continually increase the size and scope of the Senior Winter Challenge & Festival for years to come.
