ENCOURAGES LOCALS TO GRIND 73' HANDRAIL
Saturday, March 22, 2008
Dodge Ridge hosted a popular afterhours event on Saturday when guests were invited to stick around Locals Cafe at the base of Chair 7 after the lifts stopped operating. For the next couple hours, spectators on the deck of Locals were entertained by the John Nessl Band as athletes attempted to grind the entire length of the deck's handrail - an impressive 73 feet.
Cash prizes were awarded to anyone who made the entire length, with Casey Earle managing to make it across first, earning the grand prize of $100. Billy Flores, Dean Stone, and Jon Verceles also made it all 73 feet, earning $50 each.
The afterhours event at Dodge Ridge has been a popular springtime activity for locals over the past few years, as spectators are required to ski or ride (snowboards, not snowmobiles) to and from the event, which starts shortly after the chair lifts stop turning and ends before night falls.
Any spectators with pictures of the event are encouraged to submit photos to info@dodgeridge.com
