September 27, 2013- Pinecrest, California - For the past three seasons the Dodge Ridge Race Team (DRRT) has dominated the USSA Far West Central Series, keeping the prestigious Silver Cup at home along with winning numerous individual team member titles. For the over 50 members of the DRRT, that winning tradition and team legacy continues on for another season, starting with the 14th Annual DRRT Kick-Off Weekend Oct. 5 & 6, 2013.
The DRRT Kick-Off Weekend starts with a family welcome social and equipment exchange on Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Dodge Ridge Family Lodge. Sunday, Oct. 6 begins with Race Team registration and a team meeting with coach introductions, training details and race schedules. Also on Sunday, Oct. 6, the weekend excitement peaks as the Dodge Ridge Sport Shop hosts race reps from Volkl, Marker, Rossignol, Nordica, Tecnica & Blizzard with exclusive USSA pricing on the latest ski gear and a 25% Sport Shop discount for registered Race Team members and their families. Also included in the in the schedule of events will be a special race tuning clinic by world renowned ski tech Willi Wiltz. With over 30 year of experience with the US Ski Team, Willi has an extensive background in race tuning research and development and will be sharing his World Cup Race Room Secrets from 1-3pm on Sunday, Oct 6.
As competitors in the USSA Far West Central Series, Dodge Ridge goes head to head each season with teams from China Peak, Badger Pass and Bear Valley for the coveted Silver Cup. Central Series races are held at each team’s mountain during the months of January – April.
In line with the mission of USSA, the goal of the DRRT is the development of young athletes and a lifelong love of the sport. Membership on the Development Team (ages 5-8) or the Race Team (ages 6-13) provides the perfect opportunity for youth to advance their skiing with one-on-one training and targeted development that promotes strong racing and all-mountain skills. The DRRT Weekend Kick-off is open to anyone interested in learning more about advancing their child’s all-mountain skiing as a member of the Team this season.
Dodge Ridge is also currently accepting applications for the Bobby Rapp Memorial Ski Race Scholarship. As a lifelong skier at Dodge Ridge and an 8-year member of the DRRT, Sgt. Rapp was born and raised in Sonora, CA before he was killed serving his country in Afghanistan in 2008. Dodge Ridge is honored to be able to offer this race team scholarship fund made possible by the money he left to support Dodge Ridge ski racing.
